John Iacovelli


John Iacovelli (Scenic Designer, The Immigrant) won the Emmy Award for his production design of the A&E presentation of the Tony-nominated Broadway production of Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby. He designed the current national tour of Camelot, originating in La Mirada, where he designed Driving Miss Daisy

He has designed for many smaller LA theatres over the past twenty years and has designed over 200 productions at the top regional theatres in the U.S. He has worked at South Coast Rep and Pasadena Playhouse, where he designed The Twilight of the Golds, which went onto Broadway. Other credits include Oedipus in Colonus, directed by Wole Solyenki for the Cultural Olympiad in Delphi, Greece; and Warner Theatricals’ Casablanca, a ballet based on the classic film for The Great Hall of the People in Beijing. 

He has also received the LA Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Lifetime Achievement in Scenic Design. He was the production designer on Ruby in Paradise starring Ashley Judd, and for television, he designed The Old Settler starring Phylicia Rashad & Debbie Allen and The Gin Game starring Mary Tyler Moore & Dick Van Dyke. Also Lincoln Heights, Ed, Babylon 5, Resurrection Blvd., and The Book of Daniel. 

He holds a BA in theatre arts from UNLV and an MFA in scenic design from NYU. He is on the design faculty in the Department of Theatre & Dance, UC Davis.
