As a resident writer/actor at the Padua Hills Festival, he wrote Kindling, and co-wrote 1961 El Dorado with his wife Elizabeth Ruscio. His plays Mooncalf, Feed Them Dogs, and Hard Hat Area received Drama-Logue and LA Weekly Awards. His musical STEEL - John Henry and the Shaker, produced by the Oasis Theater Company and presented as part of the Hot Properties series Inside at the Ford, garnered seven Ovation Award nominations including Best New Musical. As an actor, Leon has worked with Maria Irene Fornes, John Steppling, Alan Rudolph, and most recently Jane Anderson. His directing credits range
from a concert reading of a new opera, String of Pearls, at Carnegie
Hall, to Steve Wyrick - Magic to the Extreme at the Sahara Casino
in Las Vegas. Leon teaches playwriting for UCLA Extension, A.S.K. Theater
Projects, New Roads School, and the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts
in Culver City. He holds an MFA from the University of Iowa.
