Other designs for the theater include the original New York productions of 0 (Tony nomination) and Cloud 9, both directed by Tommy Tune; Catskills on Broadway; Teaneck Tanzi, The Venus Flytrap; Kismet for the NYC Opera; Four Chamber Works for the NYC Ballet, choreographed by Jerome Robbins; and two world concert tours for Liza Minnelli.
Lawrence served as the resident designer at The Repertory Theater for three seasons, during which he designed 15 shows. Los Angeles credits include Sylvia; Ruthless!; The Reunification Hotel (Drama-Logue award), A Piece of My Heart, and Riga for Venture West; Romeo and Juliet, and Circus Verona for Deaf West; The People VS. Mona, and Steppin’ Out at the Pasadena Playhouse; Tarzana Tanzi, The Venus Flytrap (Drama-Logue award); The Black Box, Brecht on Brecht, Night Sky, and A Month in the Country for The Odyssey Theater (1999-2000 TCG Artist-in-Residence Grant).
Production designs for film include: Aftershock: Earthquake in New York; LA Story, Doc Hollywood, Beethoven’s 2nd; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Gone Fishin’; Overboard; True Believer; Desert Bloom; and The Flamingo Kid.
Lawrence is also an interior
designer with his own company: Lawrence Miller Design, Inc. Presently,
he is designing a proposal for a Gandhi Peace Monument in Honolulu. He
received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.
