David Rose


David Rose David Rose has served on The Colony's Artistic Advisory Board since 1992, and has directed Colony productions of Almost, Maine, "Master Harold" ...and the boys, I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda, Billy Bishop Goes to War Sherlock's Last Case, The Drawer Boy, The Nerd, Fuddy Meers, the World Premiere of Bea[u]tiful in the Extreme,Our Country's Good (West Coast Premier, six Ovation Award nominations, Drama-Logue Award) You Can't Take It With You (Drama-Logue Award), The Front Page (L.A. Weekly Award-Revival Production of the Year), The Living (L.A. Premier), June Moon, the West Coast premiere of Garson Kanin's Peccadillo (West Coast Premiere, Drama-Logue Award), and The Man Who Came to Dinner. He has also directed Colony Bonus productions of True West, Baby With the Bathwater, and the one-woman show I Can Fit My Fist in My Mouth.

Elsewhere in Los Angeles he has staged productions of Geniuses (Drama-Logue award) and Justin Tanner’s Big Bear at Third Stage, The Dining Room at Theatre 40, the L.A. premiere of Inspecting Carol for Singular Productions at the Ivy Substation, Geniuses at Third Stage (Drama-Logue Award), Chased From Paradise and The Blues are Running at the Lost Studio, and the smash hit (Drama-Logue Award) Road to Nirvana, which enjoyed a nine month run, also at Third Stage. He also served on the artistic committee for Showtime's Act One '95 series at the Met Theatre, and staged two original one-act plays for Ensemble Studio Theatre's First Look: L.A. festival at the Lost Studio.

New York: productions at Equity Library Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Manhattan Punch Line, the Pearl Theatre, the Ridiculous Theatre, and LaMama ETC. He also spent two years as Artistic Director of the New York Comedy Repertory Ensemble.

A founding member of Washington D.C.'s acclaimed Wooly Mammoth ensemble, he staged several of their original productions, including The Kramer, Madmen and Specialists, and the American premiere of Vatzlav, among others.

As an actor, he has appeared at The Colony in Pastoral,  Incident at Vichy, Morning's at Seven, as Malcolm in Bedroom Farce, Einstein and the Polar Bear, and The Clearing.

The Season kicks off with the tour-de-force one man show The Thousandth Night, joining Scheherazade with a concentration camp in a 1943 battle to live. Next, Trying a hopeful and humorous autobiographical tale of friendship amidst life's most inevitable adventure -- growing old. Then "Master Harold" ... and the boys the stunning masterpiece and one of the most powerful coming-of-age plays ever written. Next, the delightful romantic comedy, Almost Maine. The Season is capped-off by a humourous new American musical that will touch your heart, The Immigrant.
