John Swihart


John Swihart made his stage debut as composer of The Colony Theatre productiuon of Educating Rita. 

John has written the scores for more than 40 films, including Napoleon Dynamite (Fox Searchlight), for which he was awarded a Golden Satellite Award for Best Original Score; Garden Party (Roadside Attractions); Employee of the Month (Lions Gate); The Great New Wonderful (First Independent); The Brothers Solomon (TriStar); Our Very Own (Miramax); Daltry Calhoun (Miramax); The Hammer (The Weinstein Co.); One Last Dance (Golden Village); The Education of Charlie Banks (Anchor Bay Entertainment); and the upcoming films Spread (Barbarian Films),starring Ashton Kutcher and Anne Heche; Dream of the Romans (iDeal Partners), starring Jeff Daniels and Lauren Graham; and Chilled in Miami (Lions Gate), starring Renee Zellweger, Harry Connick, Jr., and Nathan Fillion. 

He has also been the composer for several television series, including How I Met Your Mother (CBS), Greek (ABCFamily), Trick My Truck (CMT), Trick My Trucker (CMT), and Hope and Faith (ABC).

Before composing for film and television, John toured extensively as a musician, performing with the Grammy-winning Blue Man Group in Las Vegas and several bands in New York and Boston. 

He is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied music composition, production, and engineering.
