He received his B.A. in drama from UC Irvine in 2000. After graduation, he interned at the Pasadena Playhouse on their production of Ikebana. Since that time, he has stage managed Looking Over the President's Shoulder, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, A Life in the Theatre, and Biloxi Blues, all at the Pasadena Playhouse, where he also worked on Blithe Spirit,Do I Hear a Waltz? and Blue. Conwell also Production Stage Managed Blue at the Coconut Grove Playhouse. Conwell served as second
ASM on the tour of The Leader of the Pack.
